Deliberating on what is true and untrue is a uniquely human activity. However, it is precisely for that reason that truth is not an evident or static fact. It is brought about through human questioning and, as such, is the object of endless reflection and debate.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>More than 50 VUB voices have each in their own manner and from their own discipline reflected on the theme of \u2018truth\u2019. The contributions in this book form a mosaic of voice on time-honoured and fundamental questions: What is truth? Who determines what is true and on what grounds? As experts, what role can and should scientists play in all this? Are we now in a post-truth era, and have we abandoned facts as the basis for truth claims?
