[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=““]The Higher Council for Media Education is organizing the third edition of Media Education Week in schools and youth sector venues, from 15 to 23 November 2025, across the French Community of Belgium.<\/p>\n

Building on the success of the first two editions and thanks to the commitment of more than 40 media literacy organizations, this year\u2019s program is even richer and more diverse!<\/p>\n

Media visits, meetings with journalists, workshops, training sessions, film debates… More than 200 free activities will be offered to schools and youth organizations throughout the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Wallonie-Bruxelles.<\/p>\n

Among them are activities designed to raise young people\u2019s awareness of how media work, develop their critical thinking toward AI, teach them to interact responsibly on social networks, reflect on their gaming habits, understand algorithmic mechanisms, identify and analyze stereotypes conveyed by the media, and introduce them to audiovisual production techniques.<\/p>\n

Media literacy week includes\u00a0:<\/strong>
\n– Around 50 classroom meetings with journalists<\/strong>, who will talk with students aged 10 and above about their profession.
\n– Media visits:<\/strong> many local and national (broadcast, print, and digital) media outlets are opening their newsrooms to welcome participants.
\n– Media literacy workshops:<\/strong> including sessions on understanding artificial intelligence and learning how to engage in respectful debate on social media.
\n– Nearly 90 training and conference opportunities<\/strong> for educators, aimed at deepening understanding of social networks, fostering constructive dialogue between parents and children about screen use, and better grasping the challenges of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

Media Education: a priority<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the exponential growth of digital media (social networks, artificial intelligence, etc.), the challenges of media education have never been more crucial.<\/p>\n

The main goal of media education is to foster reflection and questioning, enabling every citizen to approach the media with a critical mindset, to use them effectively, and to express themselves through them.<\/p>\n

This event therefore represents a unique opportunity to raise young people\u2019s awareness of contemporary media issues through a comprehensive and entirely free program.<\/p>\n
