Belgi\u00eb heeft drie offici\u00eble talen (Nederlands, Frans en Duits) en drie gewesten (Vlaanderen, Walloni\u00eb en Brussel-Hoofdstad), die elkaar gedeeltelijk overlappen.<\/li>\n<li>Enerzijds is deze dubbele versnippering, gecombineerd met zwakke federale instellingen, de bron van vele politieke en maatschappelijke spanningen in het land. Bovendien zijn de informatie-ecosystemen van lokale gemeenschappen sterk verbonden met buurlanden zoals Frankrijk voor het Franstalige deel en Nederland voor Vlaanderen.<\/li>\n<li>Aan de andere kant is Brussel de thuisbasis van de Europese Commissie en herbergt het een zetel van het Europees Parlement, de Europese Raad en het NAVO-hoofdkwartier.
