Three new fact sheets are now available on the Desinfo.education website, each addressing a very different topic.
Fact sheet no.12 looks at a type of advice often found on TikTok—specifically, the claim that turmeric can whiten teeth. This kind of content is common on the platform, and we chose to explore it through five videos sourced from TikTok and YouTube. The goal is to deconstruct the claim and demonstrate how the same method can be applied to other health-related tips circulating on social media.
Fact sheet no.13 offers concrete strategies for education professionals when faced with conspiratorial reasoning. The aim is not to label a statement as conspiratorial, but rather to explore practical approaches to such discourse. The starting point is a reaction video by an influencer discussing fiscal policies promoted by Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
Finally, fact sheet no.14 focuses on a transphobic conspiracy theory targeting Brigitte Macron. Rather than focusing solely on its conspiratorial aspects, the sheet highlights how the rumour serves a political purpose—namely, as propaganda. It invites readers to consider the question: What is the political function of a conspiracy theory?
