As part of the EDMO BELUX 2.0 project, Média Animation took a closer look at a rarely explored aspect of the fight against disinformation: how it is visually represented in awareness campaigns.
Through an analysis of numerous institutional, journalistic, and civil society initiatives, the article “Draw Me Fake News” deciphers the images, slogans, and metaphors used to alert the public. Whether it’s the figure of the investigator, visual wordplay between “fake” and “fact,” or metaphors like fog or jungle, each graphic choice conveys a particular vision of the problem — and its limitations.
What messages do these visuals actually communicate? Who are they targeting? And most importantly, what aspects of disinformation are left in the shadows? The analysis invites a critical look at these communication choices, both in what they show… and in what they omit.
