Date: 23 October 2023
Time: 12:00-13:00 CEST
Location: Online event

Our next EDMO BELUX Lunch Lecture will take place on 23 October at 12:00-13:00 CEST.

In this talk, Jonas Lefevere, post-doctoral researcher at M²P research group (UA) and research professor in Political Communication at Brussels School of Governance (VUB), will present novel research from the EDMO BELUX project on the spread of disinformation in Belgian and Luxembourgish society. A comparative survey of citizens of the two countries reveals which citizens are most likely to get exposed to and to believe in disinformation. The presentation covers how people’s belief and exposure to disinformation connects to their use of media, and to their trust in politics and media. It also sheds light on how people’s belief in conspiracy theories makes them more vulnerable to novel disinformation campaigns.

The EDMO BELUX Lunch Lectures are a series of informal gatherings on research topics such as disinformation, hate speech, polarisation, and digitalisation. During each Lunch Lecture, a guest speaker presents their work in a 30-minute talk, after which we open the floor for discussion. Lunch Lectures take place online and can be joined by everyone who is interested and who has registered beforehand.
